During the invitation process, individuals may be asked if they are interested in committing to a team for all three of these events. If enough individuals accept this invitation, Dodgeball BC will consider sending this long-term team in addition to the National Championship team. One team that is committed only to attending National Championships in March, and will then disband. A second team will attend National Championships and then continue to train together, with the intention of continuing on to these other events.

Tryouts: Western Canadian Dodgeball Championship

Try out to play at the Western Canadian Dodgeball Championship, happening August 5-7 in Edmonton. Dodgeball BC is hosting the selection process for Vancouver Island teams, to take place on June 28 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at The Salvation Army Citadel in Victoria: 4030 Douglas Street.

****The tryout is free, but you must register: http://bit.ly/2rLzxrJ

**Dodgeball BC is a new organization launching in full later this summer, please stay tuned to their page for further updates.

The tryout will consist of games of dodgeball played in teams randomly selected from attending contestants.

A selection committee will review multiple-angle footage of the competition - following the deliberation of the committee, individual invitations will be extended to players. The gender makeup of teams has not yet been announced.

Dodgeball BC will make every effort to present an impartial selection committee, however, due to the close-knit nature of the dodgeball community, it is unavoidable that committee members will have relationships with contestants.

Contestants will be judged on:
-Overall Skill
-Teamwork and Communication
-Fair play and Integrity

Dodgeball BC will undertake fundraising efforts in an attempt to subsidize the cost of attending the tournament, but you should be prepared to cover most personal expenses related to travel, lodging, etc.

Play style will be 7-inch foam balls on a 30 foot by 60 foot court. Please familiarize yourself with the official Dodgeball Canada rules prior to the tryout: http://bit.ly/2ru9EO0

If you cannot attend the tryout in-person, we are offering the option of submitting a video application. Send unedited footage of you playing dodgeball to dodgeballbc@gmail.com and it will be reviewed alongside footage from the tryout. You must still fill out the application form to be considered eligible for selection.
